BGU Donation Feedback: New Bury AT

In Summer 2020 I put out a call for help in clearing St James’ Church, Farnworth, grounds.
St James’ Church has unfortunately closed and over the last two years become derelict. The graveyard had been left to become completely overgrown. Volunteers came forward and we applied for funding through Bolton Green Umbrella and given a grant out of the High Street Community Clean Up fund.
We needed spades, brushes, lawnmower, everything that you could name. Some volunteers came equipped with their own tools. We went most nights and eventually we could see it become a beautiful graveyard again. We bought plants and seeds and hopefully it will look respected again. There are war graves amongst the parishioners graves and we checked that the authorities still came to make good anything that was required. Being a deprived area this would not have been possible without the funding, Thank you.
The tools are still being used throughout the winter as now more volunteers to clean our community.
